andriod does not see 5GHZ N networks???
#1
dont know if this is normal but my tinkerbord will not see 5 GHZ (N) networks only (G) networks

is there a way to fix this of or is it just how andriod for the tinkbord is?

TB doesn't have N capabilities.

Hi Jay Smith & tom,

The Tinker Board's WiFi+BT chip is BL-8723.
It can support the IEE802.11 b/g/n WiFi + BT 2.1/3.0/4.0, but 2.4 GHz.

Thanks.

TB doesn't see my n 5 GHz.  Is there a way to correct it?

Hi Jay Smith,

The Tinker Board support 802.11 b/g/n does not mean that it will also support for 5 GHz.
Because in 802.11, n is a standard for support MIMO, and 5 GHz bands is optional.

You can also ref with here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEEE_802.11#802.11n
Quote:802.11n is an amendment that improves upon the previous 802.11 standards by adding multiple-input multiple-output antennas (MIMO). 802.11n operates on both the 2.4 GHz and the 5 GHz bands. Support for 5 GHz bands is optional. It operates at a maximum net data rate from 54 Mbit/s to 600 Mbit/s. The IEEE has approved the amendment, and it was published in October 2009. Prior to the final ratification, enterprises were already migrating to 802.11n networks based on the Wi-Fi Alliance's certification of products conforming to a 2007 draft of the 802.11n proposal.
Thanks.
